Consumer Goods

We just finished discussing consumer goods.  As a consumer yourself, you have probably bought each type of consumer good at one time or another.  After this brief activity, we will discuss industrial goods.  To preface, industrial goods are goods used within businesses.  Please listen to my voki and answer the following questions as a post.  Let me know if you have any questions!     convenience,like toothpaste and soap; shopping,like designer pants and new shoes; specialty,like a Sony tv and a PS3 video game system, and unsought goods, like a mp3 player and a new couch.

    Ex.Staple: milk and Bread
    Emergency Goods: food, medince
    Shopping Goods:less frequently purchased, usually higher in price and require more thought
    Ex.compare brands, feautres and prices
    Location of the product must match the product
    Specialty Goods: very specific products that customers insit upon and are willing to search for
    Unsought Goods:Products customers do not shop for because they do not know about the product or have a strong need

    Ex. Luxury Cars, Name Brand Purses

    -Unsought Goods: products customers do not shop for b/c they do not know about the product or have a strong need.

  15. As a consumer we purchase products that are wanted and needed. When were waiting in line with our Staple items, we buy gum on impulse. In most cases, we only purchase medicine if there's an emergency of some sort.
    Shopping goods: are less frequently brought items, usually higher in price.
    Specialty goods: are items customers search for while in the store.
    Unsought goods: customers don't have strong feelings for it.

    Consumer Goods are products that are designed for personal usage. They can be divided into 4 cetagories.

    1. Convenience: Inexpensive items that require least process of thought for buying. They can be divided into 3 subcetagories including staple, impulse, and emergency. Example: Chips and AA Batteries.

    2.Shopping Goods: Items that are less frequently purchase, usually more expensive and used more process of thought by consumers. Example: Brand name clothing and luxurious cologne.

    3. Specialty Goods: Very specific items that people are willing to look for and purchase. Example: Collective coins and historical civil war rifle.

    4. Unsought Goods: Products that customers do not shop for or know about. For example, gravestone and mainframe computer (in which used by industrial user.)

    Shopping Good:
    Purchased less frequently, higher in price and more thought into the good. This can be a car, or a plasma TV.

    Specialty Good:
    Goods that the consumer will seek to find due to brand loyalty such as Coca-Cola or Mountain Dew.

    Unsought Good:
    Goods (usually services) that consumers do not shop for due to lack of knowledge. This can include funeral services or a disaster relief service.

    Shopping good is when you spend more money which mean more thought. An ex. would be buying furniture.
    Unsought goods are products that are unknown until introduced by a sales person. An ex. would be a new play station 3 game
